Some Google Search Console Reports Now Tracking Fewer Pages

Google Search Console is reporting on fewer pages. Here’s what you need to know.

Google announced that starting on April 12, 2020, some Google Search Console reports would start including a smaller number of pages, “in order to provide better performance in Search Console.” This change applies to AMP, Mobile Usability, Speed, and rich result reports.

What’s the big deal? Because some Google Search Console users may mistakenly believe that seeing a smaller number of pages in their GSC reports is related to a change they made to the website or a change in Google’s Search results. It’s not. It is an internal change to the data reporting in Search Console. The only thing you may see is a decrease in the number of items and pages tracked in these reports. Double-check that you’ve notated this change in your next round of reporting.

Wait, what’s Google Search Console? We’ll refresh your memory! Google Search Console is a free Google service for monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting your site’s presence in Google Search results. GPO references GSC, along with other analytics tools, regularly to better understand and improve our clients’ digital performance.
